IPRES

The Apulia Institute for Economic and Social Research was founded in 1968 and is a partnership between local authorities and other public bodies in the Apulia region.

The Institute is a non-profit making institution and carries out research in the “general public interest”.

IPRES is focused on economic and social research. Its core activities encompass the following research areas: Statistical analysis and evaluation; social research, welfare and regional human capital; territorial planning and local development; urban and commercial planning; EU programming and policy development; international relations and migration; local finance.
IPRES operates on behalf of the associated members, carrying out study and research on the economic, social and territorial cohesion of Apulia, the transformation of the region, trends and structural development, institutional questions and tools and policy interventions. It assists institutions within the system of local and functional government in Apulia with the programming, coordination and evaluation of regional economic and social policies.

The actual members of the Institute include the Apulia Region, the Provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Lecce, the Municipalities of Bari, Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto, the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, the University of the Salento, the Chambers of Commerce of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto and the I.S.P.E. (Public Services and Charity Institute).
